Behind the work is SOMA Studio, Principal Designer Andrew Fee whose original training as a sculptor informs his aesthetic - a blend of 21st century innovation and respect for historical influences.
The following portfolio of custom furniture designs were created by Andrew Fee for SOMA Studio's residential design-build-interiors projects.
Here we profile two unique residences - a former horse stable in Rosedale and a traditional Moore Park home, that is anything but conventional, and a variety of one-of-a-kind and SOMA Studio classic pieces.
We use traditional and exotic woods in our furniture often in combination with glass, marble, blackened chrome, wrought iron, metal and bronze.
A former horse stable, from circa 1920 in the heart of Toronto’s Rosedale neighbourhood, was converted by SOMA Studio for an international businessman to a stylish one bedroom home. Custom furniture pieces include the GRAHAM credenza, the ONYX desk, the MARCEL coffee table, the RING coffee table and the JO dresser.

The ONYX Desk was designed to fit the space in front of a south-facing window where the light enhances the luminous quality of the stone. The hand-forged frame and handles are of bronze coated steel. The drawers are bleached Zebrawood.

From the street, this Moore Park home reflects the style of a traditional Toronto neighbourhood. But tradition ends at the front door giving way to a modern architectural design plan suited to the needs of a young contemporary family. In fact the home’s Building Design and Interiors by SOMA Studio was so complete that only the original facade remains. Garfield is decorated with both custom designed furniture pieces, by Andrew Fee and contemporary Italian furniture. Original site-specific hand-knotted Nepalese silk and wool carpets are by Linda Corbett.
